Don’t get a Heavy Mudgar until you finish these 3 challenges

The most common query every Mudgar student asks is – When can I go for a Heavy Mudgar?

I get it. We have this western notion of progressive overload – as you progress, go for a heavier weight.

However this is not how our ancestors structured workouts.

In fact, they had very strict rules ex: for any student, the 1st Mudgar had to earned, with practice

But from my personal experience, I’ve set some challenges which once followed, then a student can go for a heavy Mudgar:

#1 Practice Meipadam for 3 months atleast

Meipadam is an ancient traditional warrior art which involves dynamic body movements and kshatriya pranayama

It helps open up your body and develops internal strength. This makes your body mobile too and gaining strength becomes easier

#2 Practice with your 1st Mudgar for 3months atleast

The Mudgar or Kai Karlai helps in body conditioning and builds the initial strength(tendons become stronger). Once you practice for 3 months, you become good at multiple swings, making you stronger and boosts confidence too

#3 Do Mudgar Marathons

Mudgar marathons are where you do 1 swing for at least 1000 reps. You need to do this along with Kshatriya Pranayama. The goal is to have more energy after the workout.

Tip: Do Mudgar marathon with 3 different swings. One swing per session of 1000 reps. This gives confidence to go for the Heavy one

If you do all 3 steps, you are ready for the Heavy Mudgar

Note: The question of how much heavy should you go – If your using 3-3.5kg, don’t go more than 5kg. Even 1 kg Mudgar difference feels a lot
